DESCRIPTION:Sharing this webinar from Better Path Coalition! \nThis webinar will feature Pennsylvania-based examples\, but the tools and strategies covered are relevant to communities everywhere. \nWe’ve seen firsthand how much can be uncovered when communities start asking the right questions and demanding the records to back up the answers. \nOn Tuesday\, September 8 at 7 PM ET\, Better Path Coalition is hosting “Informing the Resistance: Right-to-Know Requests That Get Results\,” a webinar on how advocates and community members can use open records requests to uncover information\, hold decision-makers accountable\, and strengthen their organizing. \nConcerned Citizens of Montour County recently demonstrated just how powerful this tool can be. Their Right-to-Know request produced documents revealing details about the Shapiro administration’s communications and relationship with data center developers\, including Amazon. \nColby Wesner\, co-founder of Concerned Citizens of Montour County\, will walk through what went into preparing their request\, what they received\, and how they approached analyzing the results. \nAnneke van Rossum\, Advocacy and Advancement Coordinator with Delaware Riverkeeper Network\, will then provide practical guidance on filing effective Right-to-Know requests of your own\, including what to ask for and how to increase your chances of getting useful results. \nWhether you’re organizing around data centers\, pipelines\, fracking\, LNG exports\, pollution\, or another local issue\, this is a skill worth having in your toolbox. What makes Pipeline Safety Trust conferences unique among pipeline conferences is the diverse mix of attendees\, including the affected public\, the pipeline industry\, union representatives\, and government regulators. These individuals come together to discuss the barriers to safer pipelines. Through this collaborative approach\, the conference promotes better understanding and trust between these groups\, enabling us to move forward together in our mutual goal of making pipelines as safe as possible. Pipeline Safety Trust is grateful for the federal grant that helps pay for this conference. \nThis year we are offering pre-conference activities on Wednesday Oct. 14\, ahead of the main conference taking place on Thursday Oct. 15 and Friday Oct. 16.

The award specifically honors those who work to stop the harms of the fossil fuel industry on their communities and their environment. \nThese Sentinels engage in a variety of impactful practices\, such as organizing grassroots campaigns\, advocating for stricter laws and regulations\, conducting independent research to expose environmental harms\, raising awareness through various art forms—including music\, theater\, visual arts\, and literature—and educating the public on the impacts of fossil fuels. \nRecipients of the Community Sentinel Award for Environmental Stewardship are celebrated not only for their individual accomplishments but also as representatives of the broader movement for environmental justice. By honoring these remarkable individuals\, we aim to highlight the diverse and powerful voices leading the charge for a more just world. \nThe Awards Ceremony \nThis year marks the 11th Community Sentinel Award for Environmental Stewardship. The recipients will be honored at a live award ceremony on November 12\, 2026  in New Orleans\, Louisiana.
