Uncovering the Truth Behind False Climate Solutions: Tune into Drilled’s Latest Series

As environmental advocates, we at the Halt the Harm Network (HHN) are constantly seeking to uncover and combat the harmful practices of the petrochemical and fossil fuel industries. We encourage you to tune into the latest series from the Drilled podcast, hosted by Amy Westervelt.

In this new series, Drilled explores what they term “false solutions” – purported climate solutions promoted by the fossil fuel industry that, in reality, entrench our dependence on fossil fuels for decades to come. These include technologies like liquefied natural gas (LNG), carbon capture, hydrogen, and renewable natural gas. While marketed as clean and sustainable, these solutions come with significant greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts.

Many of these so-called solutions disproportionately impact marginalized communities. Areas already burdened by petrochemical pollution, often home to low-income and minority populations, are targeted for further industrial expansion. The podcast highlights the systemic injustices that perpetuate environmental racism, an issue we are deeply committed to combating at HHN.

The series sheds light on how fossil fuel companies use sophisticated lobbying and PR tactics to greenwash their activities, making it harder for the public and policymakers to see the true environmental costs. At HHN, we believe in holding these companies accountable and ensuring transparency in environmental policies and practices.
