Training webinar focused on Winning Corporate Campaigns: Lessons from Mind the Store
Corporate campaigning can be a powerful tool for holding businesses accountable and winning meaningful change. Over the past decade, Toxic-Free Future’s Mind the Store program pushed some of the nation’s largest retailers to phase out toxic chemicals, strengthen safer chemicals policies, and respond to pressure from consumers, workers, investors, and frontline communities. This training will explore key lessons learned from those campaigns and how organizers can apply them to fights against toxic chemical producers, hazardous waste facilities, plastic pollution, and other polluters.
Mike Schade is the Senior Director of Programs and Strategy at Toxic-Free Future. For more than ten years, he led Toxic-Free Future’s Mind the Store program, which challenges retailers to shift the marketplace away from hazardous chemicals and develop comprehensive safer chemicals policies. Prior to joining TFF Mike was Markets Campaign Coordinator with the Center for Health Environment & Justice (CHEJ) where he led campaigns to phase out PVC plastic, phthalates, and bisphenol A in consumer products and packaging, and led the Buffalo office of a statewide environmental health organization. He has a BS in Environmental Studies from the University at Buffalo. Mike lives in New York with his wife and dog, and regularly explores the region’s mountains, lakes, and beaches.
