Liveable Arlington released a new analysis mapping oil and gas wells in proximity to schools in Arlington Texas. The webinar is in 3 parts; exploring the data and how it’s compiled, a summary of the peer reviewed research on health risks of fracking and proximity (specifically to children), and an interactive custom map from FracTracker Alliance on the distance between drilling sites and schools in the community.
This is not just relevant to Texas, it’s an example to anyone who wants to see how data like this can be used to illustrate the harms of fracking (or other polluting industries) and engage local community in facing the risks their exposed to.

Tens of thousands of Arlington public school students attend campuses within close proximity to active oil and gas operations. Dr. Larysa Dyrszka of Concerned Health Professionals of New York (CHPNY) connected the Arlington findings to Texas-based and national peer-reviewed research on the harms of fracking, with particular attention to the risks for infants and children.
