Maryland’s Fracking Win – A Public Health Perspective

Watch and discuss on Halt the Harm Network (requires login)

The recent ban on fracking in Maryland has energized efforts to ban fracking in other states and jurisdictions. The movement in Maryland was the result of a collaborative effort of countless individuals and organizations that pushed one common vision and a demand that legislators in Maryland could not ignore.

Halt the Harm Network and Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility partnered for a webinar on the role played by health professionals and health advocacy organizations in this collective effort. Panelists shared their experiences and discuss what lessons they learned that could be applied to other states and jurisdictions. Check out the recording below and make sure to listen in after the presentations to hear the panelists and audience engage in Q&A and discussion about how to channel this success into a larger movement moment.

Speakers were Dr. Gina Angiola, Dr. Ann Bristow and Tim Whitehouse.
